Snownument

Snownument is the fifth episode of a five-part Frozen Series by Fyodor Pavlov-Andreevich, depicting Brazil’s most known places of power. This moving image shows Bandeirantes, one of São Paulo’s most known monuments, infamously showcasing the sad history of colonization. Snownument makes the monumental horses rear up and freeze: the same goes for the slaves, the indigenous and the oppressors, all commanded by the artist’s finger-flick. The five parts of the saga, gradually and insistently, build the new Brazil: ice-hot, ice-statuesque, ice-motionless.
