When you have nowhere to sleep and nowhere to go, you’ve got to bend down. This position makes finding a suitable place for yourself easier, whether in the society or just to sleep. You can squeeze in where others wouldn’t even think to go. You can also imagine how, for months now, people in Ukrainian cities have stopped taking refuge in their buildings basements when they hear air raid sirens: it’s impossible to do that every single night, and they no longer mind the risk. But the sirens have permanently imprinted themselves in their consciousness, like a perennial barrier to a normal life. Rock back and forth until you forget these sirens entirely.
